During a meeting with his cabinet in Ramallah, Shtayyeh alerted on the expansionist plans of the administration that Benjamin Netanyahu will head and who is also considered a hawk in his policies towards the Palestinians.
Prominent among Netanyahu’s ministers is the incoming head of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, who yesterday deemed it necessary to change the Army’s rules of fire, so as to allow firing at Palestinian stone-throwers.
Threats and intimidations will not scare us, said Shtayyeh, who assured that the Palestinian people would continue to emphasize their resistance against the occupants.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed itself in similar terms on Monday.
The agreement between Netanyahu and extremist Ben Gvir to legalize 65 Israeli outposts in the West Bank is a call for escalation, the prime minister stressed.
