Rome, Nov 28 (Prensa Latina) Italy's rescue teams on Monday reported that eight people, including seven minors, were found dead after a severe storm hit the Italian island of Ischia on Saturday.

Luca Cari, spokesman for the rescuers, said in statements published on the Italiaoggi website that Monday’s work will continue in Casamicciola, the most affected municipality.

Cari pointed out that a newborn baby -just 22 days old- is among deceased people, while five others are still missing.

The other two children reported dead were an 11-year-old boy and his six-year-old sister, whose parents and a third child are still missing despite firefighters´ efforts who are digging through tons of mud and debris caused by landslides and mudslides.

Fabrizio Curcio, head of the Civil Protection Department, said during an interview published by La Stampa that “Ischia´s present situation is too complicated since part of Mount Epomeo has collapsed due to the storm.”
