Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen, during the African Union Extraordinary Summit on Industrialization and Economic Diversification, said that “we must establish trading strategies so as not to depend on imports from other regions.
First, however, we must undertake an industrial expansion to determine whether Africa can transform its enormous natural resources into quality goods, Mekonnen added.
The deputy prime minister noted that allocating the necessary capital to drive technological growth across the continent and transform national economies with tangible actions is very important.
Mekonnen also explained some details of the economic reforms implemented since Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed came to power in 2018.
