Golovchenko was received at the Damascus International Airport by the Syrian Minister of Transport, Zuhair Khuzaym, and the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Suhail Abdel Latif.
Golovchenko is scheduled to be received by President Bashar Al-Assad and Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, and will hold talks aimed at promoting trade and cooperation in vital sectors such as energy, transportation, education and culture.
He will also discuss the contribution of Belarusian companies to the reconstruction of Syria, and will witness the signing of several cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding in various fields.
A batch of humanitarian aid, including food and medical supplies, arrived with the delegation’s plane.
Since the start of the war in Syria, in 2011, Minsk has maintained a policy of supporting Damascus in international forums, and has sent several shipments of humanitarian aid to the people of Syria.
