The declaration was presented to the Duma on Tuesday by the Defense and International Affairs committees and deals with the murder of Russian prisoners of war by Ukrainian nationalists.
“The deputies of the State Duma call on the parliaments of the world to unambiguously condemn the crimes of the Kiev regime and help bring to justice the direct perpetrators of the inhumane murder, as well as their sponsors,” the statement said.
As per the parliamentarians, the murder of prisoners of war is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law on the part of Ukraine, including the 1949 Geneva Convention on the treatment of prisoners of war.
They also violated international human rights standards, including the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment of 1984, according to the appeal of the Duma, approved in plenary session.
