“New Delhi stood by us in the fight against terrorism, and demanded an end to the conflict and the financing of this unjust imposed war,” the foreign minister told the press at the end of his four-day visit to India.
He added that India is a member of the UN Security Council and supports the truth and just cause of Syria and other countries.
Respect for international laws and the Charter of the United Nations have always marked their honorable stances and positions in support of the rights of peoples, especially the Palestinian cause, he stressed.
Al-Mekdad expressed gratitude for the humanitarian aid and financial support, revealing that there are many areas in which Syria depends on the help offered by India, be it in the field of food, medicine or technology.
He also called for greater cooperation in the the fight against terrorism. He also higlighted Damascus’s willingness to transmit to India the experience acquired in this struggle during 12 years of confrontation with this scourge.
During the war in Syria, India kept its embassy open and adopted a position of support for the Government in defending its sovereignty.

Canciller sirio agradeció apoyo político y económico de India
Damasco, 21 nov (Prensa Latina) El ministro de Asuntos Exteriores de Siria, Faisal Al-Mekdad, agradeció el respaldo político, económico y humanitario ofrecido por la India durante los años de la guerra que azota a Siria.
Nueva Delhi nos apoyó en la lucha contra el terrorismo, y exigió el fin del conflicto y detener el financiamiento de esta guerra injusta impuesta, dijo el canciller en declaraciones a la prensa al término de su visita de cuatro días a la India.
Agregó que la India es miembro del Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU y apoya la verdad y la justa causa de Siria y otros pueblos.
El respeto a las leyes internacionales y la Carta de las Naciones Unidas siempre marcó sus posturas y posiciones honorables en apoyo a los derechos de los pueblos, especialmente la causa palestina, destacó.
El jefe de la diplomacia siria manifestó la gratitud por la ayuda humanitaria y el apoyo económico, y reveló que hay muchas áreas en las que Siria depende de la ayuda que ofrece la India, ya sea en el campo de alimentos, medicinas o tecnologías.
Asimismo, llamó a una mayor cooperación en el campo de la lucha contra el terrorismo, y manifestó la disposición de Damasco de transmitir a la India la experiencia adquirida en este campo durante 12 años de enfrentamiento a este flagelo.
Durante el conflicto bélico en Siria la India mantuvo abierta su embajada y adoptó una postura de apoyo al Gobierno en la defensa de su soberanía.
