The 10-day literary event, which was held under the slogan “Reading decolonizes,” was goal-oriented to Africa and included over 600 activities at the National Art Gallery.
This book festival paid tribute to writers Carmen Clemente Travieso, Iraida Vargas, and Mario Sanoja, whose re-edited works were available to the public.
In the closing ceremony, Venezuelan Minister of People’s Power for Culture Ernesto Villegas highlighted that none of the activities was called off, and he also compared its results with “a tremendous goal of culture, life, and the people.”
FILVEN is a step toward decolonization with African rapprochement. “We have recognized ourselves in that root that, among others, conforms Venezuelan national identity,” Villegas noted.
