The Prisoners’ Club stated that several of these minors and teens were shot and wounded during their arrests.
The entity pointed out that 160 Palestinian minors, three of them girls, are currently held in Israeli prisons including Ofer, Megiddo and Damon.
Violations systematically practiced by Tel Aviv’s troops not only leave a mark on our minors, but also deprive them of their basic rights, the Palestinian Social Development Minister Ahmed Majdalani condemned in April.
Minors and teens have been brutally abused by Israeli security forces, Majdalani said in a statement on the occasion of the Palestinian Child´s Day.
A recent report by the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) revealed that the Palestinian Police and Army arrested over 9,000 minors and teens from 2015 to date.
The PPS warned that many of them were busted at night in homes, beaten in front of family members, handcuffed, kept with no food and drink for long hours and also interrogated without their parents´ presence.
The Save the Children organization, on the other hand, condemned the physical and verbal violence, threats and isolation inside the prisons.
