Guterres stressed to participants how significant this effort would be to create 400 million jobs, formalize at least one billion informal occupations and provide social protection to 400 million more people.
The UNSG also called for “reforming a morally bankrupt global financial system and providing developing countries with pressing access to debt relief and financing for recovery”.
Guterres also called for defending the rights of trade unions such as organizing and collective bargaining, as well as accelerating the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
