The attack targeted the so-called Green Village located in the site of the largest base in Syria, where US troops and members of the Washington-sponsored Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), are established.

The United States Armed Forces Central Command reported in a statement that the bombardment did not cause casualties or material damage, but endangered the troops.

Attacks against these enclaves in Syria have increased in recent months as popular rejection of any form of occupation of Syrian soil has has been growing.

Local tribes and clans have expressed on several occasions their rejection of foreign forces in their native territory and called for popular resistance, including armed resistance, against the occupants.

The United States maintains fifteen illegal military areas, since 2014, mostly near the oil and gas fields. The government of Damascus has repeatedly denounced their illegal presence, describing them as an occupation and also assured that Washington’s actions in Syria encourages terrorist activity.
