Voting to elect the parliamentary and provincial assemblies in Nepal will take place in a single phase next Sunday.
More than 17.9 million people are eligible to vote in the country’s seven provinces to elect 275 members of the federal Parliament and 550 seats in the seven Provincial Assemblies.
The Election Commission of Nepal has completed almost all its preparations for the parliamentary and provincial elections. The silence period starts at midnight on Friday.
A total of 10,892 polling centers and 22,227 polling booths have been set up.
Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said that representatives from India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, and 18 members of the diplomatic corps in Kathmandu would serve as observers in these elections.
He added that 7,207 members of 44 national organizations would also observe the elections.
