Jo Chol Su, director general of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed in an interview with KCNA Pyongyang’s rejection of the recent approval by the United Nations General Assembly of a resolution promoted by Washington to condemn North Korea.
The official stated that his government does not recognize the document, which was approved with coercion.
He added that it did not reflect in any case the opinion and position of the international community on human rights in the DPRK, where authorities guarantee and exercise them substantially.
He stressed that a number of countries such as China, Russia, and Cuba expressed their rejection of the resolution that the United States, Japan, some countries from the European Union, and the West unilaterally advocate, and described it as a product of Washington’s hostile policy and its allies against the DPRK to exert pressure on a sovereign and independent State and interfere in its internal affairs with the ultimate end of overthrowing its government.
