President Xiomara Castro highlighted on Wednesday the Executive’s efforts to put the initiative into practice, and assured that the needs of the people are great, that is why “the heart of each ruler must be especially with the most in needed.”
During the launch of the Solidarity Network bonds, the Head of State described the project as the most sensitive of her administration, since it is targeted at the most deprived sectors.
The president recalled the evils of neoliberal governments who impoverished and enslaved the people for 12 years.
Solidarity Network is aimed at improving housing and building schools with textbooks, while the government will provide scholarships for students of academic excellence for them to continue their studies.
It will also guarantee care for pregnant women, fight against malnutrition in children under five years of age, while adults who have never received education to become be literate.
According to official data, 74 percent of the Honduran population lives in poverty, 50 percent of them in absolute misery and despair.
