Mexican entrepreneurs reaffirm interest in doing business with Cuba

FIHAV-2022
Havana, Nov 15 (Prensa Latina) Over 20 Mexican firms are currently attending the Havana Trade Fair (FIHAV 2022), showing their interest in doing business with Cuba despite the U.S. blockade, according to Mexican ambassador Miguel Diaz.

Miguel Diaz spoke at the Mexico Day opening ceremony at ExpoCuba Exhibition Site, which was attended by Cuban Ministers of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca; of Tourism Juan Carlos Guerra, and of Industry Eloy Alvarez.

FIHAV 2022 opened its 38th edition after a two-year pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with the attendance of some 400 firms from 61 countries.

“Mexico Day finally arrived at the Havana Fair, where three interests emerge,” said the Mexican diplomat. One is that of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador´s support, who called for strengthening economic cooperation with Cuba, Díaz recalled, while adding that “we are currently boosting such a line of work and improving bilateral relations between business sectors”.

There is also the interest -Díaz pointed out- of state and local governments that contribute to guaranteeing trade and investment projects in Cuba.

“We presently have more Mexican companies operating in Cuba”, Díaz claimed and recalled that President López Obrador stated it is not enough to vote at UN against the U.S. blockade, but that concrete steps must be taken and “this is a firm one to bring Mexican businessmen closer to Cuba”.
