Amid press reports that the West will try to isolate the Russian delegation at the Bali summit, Erdogan considered that Moscow is forced to respond to the ceaseless application of punitive measures.
“Russia is not just any state as it is a powerful country”, said the president Eredogan, whose government refuses to fully join the sanctions applied by the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, the European Union (EU), and several others against Russia.
Putin and Erdogan recently agreed that Turkey would become an important regional distribution hub for Russian gas via the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, which runs between the two countries through the Black Sea.
The announcement was made after the EU approved an eighth package of sanctions that provides limitations on the sale of Russian hydrocarbons to the bloc, including a price cap for oil and gas, while Russia refuses to sell fuel at conditional rates.
