Some 11,000 national companies participated in the survey, and 30.4 percent of them responded that there was a shortage of part-time workers, especially in the restaurant and hospitality sector.
As for regular employees, the companies related to information and contracting services, as well as the maintenance and security industries, are especially hit by the lack of personnel.
The poll showed that the labor crisis in Japan is a result of the aging of the population and, although it temporarily improved as a result of the economic slowdown induced by the Covid-19 pandemic, it was accentuated again by the recovery of economic activities.
According to government statistics, Japan is the country with the oldest population in the world, where life expectancy is around 81 years for men and 88 for women.
Currently, the country is supported by people between 15 and 64 years of age (59 percent of over 125 million inhabitants), but their relief looks increasingly compromised.
