On Twitter, Díaz-Canel stressed Valdés’s consecration and talent by leading one of the five best classical ballet companies globally after the Paris Opera Ballet Company in France, the Royal Ballet of London in the United Kingdom, the American Ballet Theatre in New York City, and the Bolshoi Ballet in Russia.
The head of State noted that Valdés is at the peak of her career and sent a hug to the ballerina.
Viengsay Valdés, who was born on November 10, 1976, has been awarded the Gold Medal in the Vignale Festival of Dance held in Italy in 1993 and the Grand Prix of Ballet, by the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC), among others.
Valdés is a member of the International Dance Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Her numerous performances include prestigious stages in Europe, Asia, America, and Africa.
