Ruslan Edelgeriev, the presidential Adviser on Climate and head of the Russian delegation to the 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27) on Climate Change, said in the Egyptian resort on Wednesday that Moscow does not renounce its obligations but cannot go further in the current conditions.
He added that carbon neutrality is one of the conditions of compliance with the Paris Agreement, which establishes measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the face of climate change.
Most countries committed to achieving it by 2050, Russia and China by 2060, and India by 2070.
Its goal is to limit global warming by more than two degrees, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, by the end of the century, compared to pre-industrial levels.
COP27 opened in the Egyptian city of Sharm el Sheik on November 6 with more than 44,000 delegates from all over the world. It will run until November 18.
