The Havana-based cultural institution informed on its official website that the event will take place at its headquarters from November 9 to 11 and its purpose is to reflect on the legacy of the poet’s most important work and its impact on the continental avant-garde.
Under the auspices of the International Association of Peruvianists, the Magazine of Latin American Literary Criticism, the Embassy of Peru in Cuba and La Huaca es Poesia project, of the Peruvian Ministry of Culture, specialists from the United States, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy and Cuba will gather in Havana.
The event will also pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the book Katatay, the only collection of poems by Jose Maria Arguedas, also Peruvian, which contains writings in aboriginal languages in the 1960s, and will commemorate the five decades of diplomatic relations between Peru and Cuba.
