The Cuban leader posted on his official Twitter account about the liability of “northern nations” in greenhouse gas emissions, a situation that has threatened the entire world.
Díaz-Canel stressed that international actions to crack down on climate change cannot mean an additional burden for developing countries; it is also necessary “financial cooperation, support from developed countries”, he said.
The Cuban President considered COP27 to be the ideal setting to set up a specific financing mechanism to compensate losses and damages caused to vulnerable nations due to the impact of climate change.
“Continuing to postpone this issue would jeopardize our right to life,” Díaz-Canel stated.
