In statements to reporters early Monday, while waiting for the first preliminary results of the Sunday municipal elections, Porras reassured Nicaraguans’ vocation for peace.

We reaffirmed it since very early, with massive participation and a feeling that we are moving forward,’ the lawmaker of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) said.

He also pointed out the elections’ value on which the people elected 6,088 public posts, such as mayors, deputy mayors, and councilors of the country’s 153 municipalities.

According to the parliamentarian, the electoral exercise is the most eminent expression of independence, self-determination, and sovereignty since it demonstrates how Nicaraguans build their path.

Almost four million people were convened for this election, in which 15 parties divided into two alliances and four political formations participated.
