Outstanding Dominican journalist condemns U.S. blockade against Cuba

Santo Domingo, Nov 6 (Prensa Latina) Outstanding Dominican journalist Juan Taveras published an article in several media entitled¨ En contra del bloqueo¨ (Against the blockade), stressing how the economic, commercial and financial U.S. blockade against Cuba was strongly rejected and condemned by the vast majority of nations at the United Nations.

“More and more countries are annually condemning this hostile policy, which has not reached the goals of eliminating the Cuban revolution and putting an end to the socialist system that has prevailed on Cuba since Fidel Castro came to power in 1959,” Taveras added.

Juan TH, as he is well-known in the media, also said that in spite of plots, multiple attempts to assassinate Fidel Castro, the Bay of Pigs military invasion as well as the economic stifle, among others, the Cuban people remain firm in their intention to keep socialism as a banner, to which they have an absolute right.

On the other hand, Taveras pointed out that since the Revolutionary Triumph Cuba has been a beacon that illuminates the path of the peoples who love justice, freedom and dignity.

A people that does not give up, does not kneel before the most powerful empire. Cuba does not give up! Cuba does not submit! Cuba is not for sale! Cubans have suffered hunger, desolation, poverty and captivity because of the blockade; however they remain firm and unbowed under the slogan: Homeland or Death!

The Dominican journalist explained in his article how the US sanctions cost Cubans more than $800 billion in these years and asked: Can you imagine how Cuba would have developed with such an amount? Cuba would have been a world example of progress and development!
