Following two caravans since last October 26, the interim Minister of Social Affairs Hector Al-Hajjar encouraged nations to support Syrian refugees home return in a voluntary and safe manner.
As explained by Al-Hajjar to the press, some of Syrian refugees come at the time of departure of transports without being on the lists and we cannot agree to send any citizen till we receive Syrian approval. About 330 Syrian people left Lebanon on Saturday for their homes authorized to take whatever they want and after processing security files with names of those who longed for their return.
In this regard, General Security Director Abbas Ibrahim reaffirmed that no Syrian refugee will be forced to return, as the goal is to ease the burden on the Lebanese state.
According to official data, as many as 540,000 Syrians voluntarily returned to their country from Lebanon since 2017.
