French support for autistic children in Cuban province appreciated

Apoyo autismo Cuba Francia
Paris, Nov 5 (Prensa Latina) Specialists from the central Cuban province of Cienfuegos on Saturday thanked French organizations for their support through a project for the care of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), as part of which they exchanged experiences in several French cities.

At the end of a two-week visit, Yanet Gonzalez, director of International Cooperation at the Provincial Government, and Tania Gonzalez, director of the Vilma Espin School for children and adolescents with autism, highlighted the support from the French People’s Relief, the Cuba Cooperation France Association (CubaCoop) and the Union of Metalworkers (UFM).

These were intense but fruitful days in the cities of Orleans, Nimes, and Paris, where we were warmly welcomed and complied with the expectations of knowing the work being done here and contributing to our experiences, the visitors told Prensa Latina shortly before returning home.

They also praised the possibility of extending the ongoing project in Cienfuegos to a second phase, which will improve the living conditions of people with ASD and their families on the basis of resources that will enhance the school’s services.

The joint initiative with the French People’s Relief, CubaCoop, and UFM has already provided a bus to the Vilma Espin school to guarantee the transportation of students to classes and cultural and recreational activities, in addition to other resources.
