Cuba thanks Iran for its firm stance against US blockade

Cuba-Iran-768x576
Tehran, Nov 5 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Elio Rodriguez thanked the Government of Iran for its firm and permanent stance of condemnation of the United States blockade against the Caribbean island, diplomatic sources reported here on Saturday.

During his visit to Tehran, the high-ranking Cuban official met with the Iranian Deputy Foreign Ministers for Political Affairs and Economic Diplomacy Ali Bagheri Kani and Mahdi Safari, respectively, and they confirmed the level of political relations and multilateral agreement between the two nations, according to a press release from the Cuban Embassy here.

The diplomats agreed on the need to devise strategies against the unilateral coercive measures unfairly imposed by Washington and its allies on Iran and Cuba.

They also expressed their governments’ will to develop economic-commercial exchanges and strengthen political agreements to face common challenges in light of the global threat against multilateralism.

Rodriguez is heading a Cuban delegation that is participating on Saturday in the Meeting of National Coordinators of the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter.

The Group was created in 2021 and consists of 19 countries whose objectives are to preserve, update and defend the credibility of the UN Charter through the coordination of joint initiatives to strengthen respect for the principles of the organization, as well as the values of dialogue, tolerance, solidarity and peaceful coexistence among nations.

Member States of the group are Algeria, Angola, Belarus, Bolivia, Cambodia, China, Cuba, North Korea, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Iran, Laos, Nicaragua, Palestine, Russia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Syria, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe.
