The gala will consist of a concert at the Basilica of the San Francisco de Asis Convent in Old Havana at 18:00 hours, local time, by Cuban instrumentalists Niurka Gonzalez (flute) and Lissy Abreu (violin), and pianists Marcos Madrigal and Aldo Lopez-Gavilan.
Maestro Guido Lopez-Gavilan will conduct the orchestra and will share honors with his Italian counterpart, Emanuele Quaranta, a graduate from the Accademia Musicale Pescarese.
The San Francisco de Paula Church will also host a theatrical performance by actor Jorge Enrique Caballero as a tribute to Cuban violinist Claudio Brindis de Salas, a musical genius from the 19th century, to whom the Festival is dedicated.
According to organizers, the event will showcase the best in classical performance and will be in synergy with the closing ceremony of the Contemporary Music Festival and the Havana Mozart Festival this year.
The Esteban Salas Musical Heritage Cabinet and the Cuban Music Institute, with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Cuba, organized the event, which contributes to artistic education and supports culture as a language of understanding.
