The rector of the Bolivarian University of Venezuela, Sandra Oblitas, noted that Gonsalves is an undisputed Caribbean leader and praised his merits in his political, academic, cultural and humanistic career in favor of the emancipation of his people and the fight for their dignity and true social justice.

“We are in the presence of one of the most significant contemporary figures of the current century, a political leader, activist, intellectual, but above all a human being with a big heart,” Oblitas stated.

She pointed out that granting this distinction is not only an act of gratitude, but also reaffirms our firm intention to strengthen the ties between the sister nations of Venezuela and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

When expressing gratitude for the high recognition, Gonsalves reaffirmed the commitment of his government and the social movements of his country to the defense of the principles of sovereignty unconditionally and without hesitation at any time.

He commented that this award is not only symbolic of everything we have done in our civilization in Latin America and the Caribbean, but also focuses on the importance of secondary and tertiary education for the construction of a postcolonial, diversified and strong economy.

The prime minister of Granada highlighted the efforts of Venezuela and Cuba in the context of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty, with the aim of promoting an Educational Revolution, a step that he considered essential for our peoples to reach the level of life and production, which is consistent with the high values of humanity.
