Port of Montevideo receives largest freighter in its history

Montevideo, Nov 3 (Prensa Latina) The port of Montevideo received the largest cargo ship in its history, the Rio de Janeiro Express ship of the Hapag-Lloyd shipping company, capable of transporting more than 13,000 containers.

The 335 meter-long and 51 meter-wide vessel docked at the Cuenca del Plata Terminal (TCP).

“The largest arrives at the port of Montevideo (sic),” tweeted the National Ports Administration (ANP).

On October 25th, the Amazon, of the shipping company ONE (Ocean Network Express), 329 meter-long, with and a cargo capacity of 11,923 TEUs (unit of measurement equivalent to a 20-foot container) docked at the TCP.

The Hapag-Lloyd company, of German origin, is the fifth largest shipping company in the world, has a fleet of 253 ships and annually transports 11.9 million TEUs to ports in more than a hundred countries.
