Cuba denounces damage from US blockade before Indian women’s press

New Delhi, Nov 3 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Ambassador in New Delhi Alejandro Simancas on Thursday denounced the damage caused by the criminal blockade imposed by the United States Government on the Caribbean island before the Indian Women's Press Corps.

The Cuban diplomat highlighted the intensification of this hostile policy during the Donald Trump administration amid the Covid-19 pandemic, in an effort to make Cuba’s economy collapse without measuring the serious humanitarian consequences of that objective, a diplomatic source noted.

The United Nations General Assembly is debating this week for the thirtieth time the Report “Necessity to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.”

For three decades, Cuba has received the support of the vast majority of the international community in that UN body.

Simancas expressed the gratitude of the Cuban people and Government for India’s traditional position of solidarity, which has always joined the concert of countries that support the world demand to end the unjust US blockade against Cuba.

Cuban authorities have described this US policy as an act of war in times of peace and the greatest obstacle to the socioeconomic development of the country.

In addition, coercive measures such as the inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries that allegedly sponsors terrorism results in the refusal of foreign banks to provide services to the Caribbean island.
