At the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Pakistani delegation, on behalf of the multilateral organization, charged that Washington’s punitive measures against Cuba are an obstacle to the socioeconomic development of the Caribbean country.
“It will be impossible for Cuba to enter the path of sustainable development as set out in the 2030 Agenda,” it stressed.
The group expressed concern about the extraterritorial nature of the US blockade and rejected the inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries that sponsor terrorism.
It affirmed that the G77+China reiterates its commitment to the principles of the UN Charter and requests that unilateral sanctions be ended immediately, taking into account the terrible impact they have had on Cuba and its people for more than six decades.
Finally, the G77+China called on the entire international community to increase efforts in order to have the US blockade lifted and assured that the group will support the resolution again.
