The planned blackouts will take place in the Kiev, Chernigov, Cherkassy, Zhitomir, Sumy, Kharkov and Poltava regions, according to a statement of the Ukrainian company published on Telegram.
Ukrenergo added that this measure would allow electrical engineers to restore damaged installations, balance the system and supply power to consumers.
Damage to energy facilities in regions throughout Ukraine was reported following a series of air strikes on Monday.
On his behalf, the Deputy Head of the Office of the Ukrainian President, Kiril Tymoshenko, reported that emergency power cuts had begun throughout the country.
The damage to Ukraine’s electrical system began on October 10th with the launch of mass Russian air strikes using high-precision missiles and drones against Ukrainian military command centers, communications infrastructure and energy facilities, in retaliation, in the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin, for the terrorist attacks of the Ukrainian regime, which has the support of the United States and other NATO´s countries.
