During the talk, Biden reiterated his congratulations to Lula for his electoral victory and praised the “solid relation” between Washington and Brasilia.
Both sides pledged to “continue working as partners to address common challenges, including cracking down on climate change, safeguarding food safety, promoting inclusion and democracy, and managing regional migration,” the White House said.
On Sunday, Biden congratulated Lula for defeating ultra-right-wing ruler Jair Bolsonaro in the runoff, after hitting 50.9% of the votes in “free, fair and credible elections”, remarked Biden.
Lula´s official inauguration is scheduled for January 1, 2023.
