China demands US stop hindering bilateral ties

Beijing, Oct 31 (Prensa Latina) China on Monday demanded the United States stop harassing and not raise more barriers to the bilateral ties after stressing that their stable development benefits common interests.

According to an official communique, Foreign Minister Wang Yi made these remarks during a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The foreign minister criticized Washington for clinging to ideological prejudices and trying to curb Chinese investments with its new controls on the export and trade of machinery, semiconductors for supercomputers, and artificial intelligence from the Asian country.

He denounced these are violations of free trade rules and urged to correct them because they harm both Beijing’s legitimate interests and rights.

Wang also called on the White House to pay attention to a report from the recent Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPCh), as it contains the country’s future aspirations in multiple aspects and defines the way to follow to achieve them.

Blinken, for his part, indicated that the world hopes for more cooperation between the world’s two major powers and expressed Washington’s willingness to maintain communication about the future of the relations, the official note stated.

The two sides also addressed the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and Wang advocated for calm, more diplomatic efforts and peaceful negotiations.
