Brazilians vote again to elect president

Brasilia, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) Over 156 million voters will go to vote in 472,075 polling stations throughout Brazil to elect between candidates Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Jair Bolsonaro as their next president.

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) confirmed that former President da Silva, candidate from the Workers’ Party, won the first round of the elections on October 2nd with 48.43 percent of the valid votes, while on for the Liberal Party, President Bolsonaro, who aspires to be re-elected, obtained 43.20.

As none of the politicians achieved more than half of the valid votes (excluding blanks and null votes) as established by national legislation to be elected, they will be running again this Sunday.

The Electoral Justice also specified that in order to appoint the new chief of the Executive, 697,000 people will vote in 181 cities around the world.

According to the TSE, seven international electoral observation missions belonging to the Parliament of the Common Market of the South, the Organization of American States, the Network of Jurisdictional and Electoral Administration Bodies of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries will supervise the second round of elections.

The Carter Center (United States), the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems and Electoral Transparency will also be present.
