According to the update published by the Ministry of Health, so far 1,097 have contracted the disease, 658 of them in Aleppo, 194 in Deir Ezzor, 75 in Hasakeh, 38 in Raqa, 46 in Latakia and 11 in the City of Damascus.
A ministry statement reports that in all cases all deaths were caused by delays in seeking medical attention.
Aleppo is still the province with the highest number of deaths (39), followed by Hasakeh (4), Deir Ezzor (2) and the City of Damascus (1).
Syria has been facing a war since 2011 that affected its health system and deteriorated its services, degrading the health indices of the population.
