In a speech delivered last night during the celebration of the 43rd anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of the Interior, Ortega said that these waves are caused by the sanctions imposed on different countries by Washington.

“Those who cause these waves of desperate migrants are the US rulers with their terrorist policies, violators of human rights,” said the president.

Ortega also made reference to the measures against Venezuela and the way in which they mistreat Central American countries with their threats. “They tell them: if you don’t do this, then we are going to sanction you, and what is the result if they listen to them? More unemployed people, and if it is said that there is work in the United States and that they are respectful of the rights of migrants, then there they go, but it is not true, they repress, persecute, murder and imprison (the migrants),” the President said.

He also mentioned the thousands of migrants from North Africa who cross the Mediterranean Sea to look for work in Europe and find the doors closed to them.

“In the end, thousands of immigrants perish, that goes unsaid, it is not denounced in the United Nations, in International Organizations, the thousands of migrants who die there off the coast of Europe,” he stressed.
