Speaking to Prensa Latina, Rodriguez described the 23rd Meeting of Foreign Ministers of that bloc, held in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, as productive.
The Cuban diplomat stated that the meeting took place in an atmosphere of overcoming differences that affected the CELAC in recent years and focused on the fundamental issues that have to do with Latin America without politicization attempts.
He also highlighted the approval of a joint declaration in which the member countries rejected the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba and demanded to exclude the island from a list of alleged sponsors of terrorism.
The foreign minister described that list as spurious and arbitrary and stressed the importance that the CELAC denounces aggressions of this kind.
The official also indicated that the 7th Summit of that bloc will be held in January 2023, in which a moment for an encounter is expected. The CELAC needs to overcome a period in which attempts of political manipulation against some nations stood out.
I am convinced that the summit will mark a favorable stage and establish an agenda for the coming years as part of the project of integration and unity in diversity that is so important for Cuba and Our America, he added.
Rodriguez attended on Thursday a meeting with Cuban residents, members of the Argentinian Movement of Solidarity, graduates on the island, and members of political, social, and trade union organizations of this South American country.
