Armenian leader approves Putin’s proposal on talks with Azerbaijan

Yerevan, Oct 28 (Prensa Latina) Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinián said that he agreed to establish interstate relations with Azerbaijan on the principles proposed by Russia.

Pashinian published this Friday on his Twitter account that he is ready to sign the proposal at the meeting of the leaders of the three countries, to be held next week in the Russian city of Sochi.

On October 14th, at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States, President Vladimir Putin invited the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia to Russia, suggesting that they agree on a date and place for the meeting.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov later confirmed the preparations for the meeting.

Pashinian, for his part, assured before the Parliament of his country that he plans to travel to Sochi at the invitation of Russia to meet on October 31st with Putin and with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

President Putin stated during the session of the Valdai international discussion club on Thursday that Russia will support any choice of the Armenian people on the parameters of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan.

Violent clashes broke out on various sections of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in mid-September, resulting in more than 200 deaths and hundreds of wounded on both sides.
