At the meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU), Leyva thanked Cuba for its support for peace and thanked the Antillean country for facilitating its territory to make peace in Colombia.
In this context, the minister announced that Spain and Chile will be accompanying countries of the Colombian peace process that is about to materialize with the National Liberation Army and other armed groups.
He assured that in Colombia,’a country covered in blood since 1960′, peace is possible and in this sense he took advantage of the presence of European countries to thank them ‘because they fell in love with the Havana peace accords’.
The headline thus referred to the Peace Agreement signed in 2016 between the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and the Government of Juan Manuel Santos on behalf of the State.
He indicated that peace in Colombia is “a jewel to show” and that the country’s president, Gustavo Petro, has a conviction for universal peace, peace in Colombia, and peace beyond borders.
The senior official called for Latin America and the Caribbean to be a zone of peace and to demand the end of the war in Ukraine, which is also “against the planet.”
He expressed that in all the international meetings that he has held, his purpose is ‘the search for total peace, that is our commitment and that is what we are going to play for.’
The two regional blocs are holding a plenary session at the Kirchner Cultural Center, in this capital, under the title III Summit of Foreign Ministers of CELAC and the European Union, with the aim of reinforcing the bi-regional dialogue and the strategic association in which representatives of all the Member States of the two parties participate.
