Expressing his sympathy for the people and government of Iran, the spokesman said: ‘We are aware of the Shiraz attack and we condemn it. Any terrorist attack deserves condemnation’.
Iranian authorities reported that the attack occurred in the holy shrine of Shah-e-Cheragh, when an armed man began shooting at the faithful gathered there.
According to the Fars province police commander, the perpetrator of the massacre was arrested.
The president of Iran, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, promised that events like these will have a response from the judicial institutions and the security forces.
Raisi called the terror attack a crime committed by enemies of the Islamic Republic.
