Argentina hosts 39th session of ECLAC

Buenos Aires, Oct 24 (Prensa Latina) The 39th session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will be inaugurated in Argentina on Monday by President Alberto Fernández and meet representatives of 60 nations until Wednesday, October 26.

According to a communiqué from this Commission, this is its major biennial gathering where ECLAC will present a proposal of strategies for the productive structure that favors the revival of the economic activity in a sustainable development.

The event takes place at the Kirchner Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, and authorities, researchers, academics, members of civil society, and officials from ECLAC’s 46 Member States and 14 associate members will attend meetings in-person or virtually.

The forum aims to analyze issues relevant to the region’s development and examine the progress of the Commission’s activities.

The Governments will also receive a report on the work conducted by this entity in the last year and define, through the approval of the work program and the calendar of conferences, the mandates to guide the future work of this organization.

During the meeting, Argentina will assume the pro tempore presidency of ECLAC from Costa Rica for the 2022-2024 biennium.
