Putin, who sent a telegram to Xi on his reelection as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPCh), said that he was satisfied with the progress of constructive talks with Beijing, the Kremlin website reported on Sunday.
“The results of the 20th CPCh Commemorative Congress fully confirmed Xi’s high political authority, as well as the cohesion of the party that he leads,” the Russian president stressed in his telegram.
Putin also expressed confidence that the decisions made by the Congress will contribute to complying with the tasks that China is facing and strengthening its positions.
Xi was confirmed for a third term as the Chairman of the CPCh Central Military Commission, a decision made in the final stage of the 20th Congress of the party.
The Chinese leader also introduced the four new members of the CPCh Politburo Standing Committee.
China’s ruling party holds congresses every five years, and the 20th CPCh Congress opened in Beijing on October 16 and concluded on October 22.
