Civil Aeronautics gives more details about aircraft that left Cuba

Havana, Oct 22 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Civil Aeronautics Institute (IACC) today offered details about an AN-2 aircraft, belonging to the National Air Services Company (ENSA), which left the national territory in the morning of this Friday.

According to the Informative Note of the Cuban organization, it is flight CNI 400, registration CU A188, which took off from the ENSA base unit in the central province of Sancti Spíritus, bound for the El Cedro runway to carry out agricultural fumigation tasks.

After completing its second application flight, the aircraft piloted by captain Rubén Martínez Machado, did not return to the runway.

The pilot is a native of the city of Santa Clara, and had License 3060, valid until October 30, 2022.

Press media report that the aircraft arrived in US territory, although, so far, the Cuban civil aviation authorities have not received official notification from the United States Agencies.

Acts of air piracy constitute crimes defined in several international conventions, ratified by Cuba and the United States, the IACC noted.

This fact represents a violation of Cuban airspace, operational safety rules and aeronautical regulations, in correspondence with the Annexes of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention).

IACC authorities continue to investigate the details of the incident based on the available information.
