Vietnam’s Parliament examines changes to radio frequency law

Vietnam-Parlamento
Hanoi, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam's National Assembly (Parliament) on Friday analyzes a bill amending and supplementing several articles of the Law on Radio Frequencies at the resumption of the fourth regular session of the 15th Legislature.

The main contents of the proposal focus on band planning, licensing of frequency use and penalties for violations, and issues related to revenue from frequency use, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Pham Duc Long said.

Addressing a session of the Parliament’s Standing Committee in April, Duc Long stated that this law aims to institutionalize the resolutions of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PCV) to integrally and synchronously complete the institution of the market economy according to the socialist orientation.

The proposed amendments and additions, he said, will make it possible to create a favorable environment aimed at mobilizing, allocating, and effectively using the satellite radio frequency and orbits.

At the meeting itself, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue stressed that radio frequencies are the country’s national asset that becomes increasingly valuable, especially in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the development of the digital economy and society.

All countries attach great importance to and promote the protection of rights in the sector, so management in this field needs to be strict, public, and transparent to maximize its value for the socio-economic development, security-defense, and unexpected urgent situations, he stressed.

On its first working day on Thursday, the 4th ordinary session of the 15th Legislature announced a report on the implementation of the socio-economic development plan by 2022 and what it was planned by 2023, presented by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
