This position, published by the Syrian press, was announced by the diplomat in his speech before a conference on international and regional cooperation in border security and counter-terrorism, held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
“The phenomenon of international terrorism has become the most prominent and dangerous challenge the world faces, which requires strengthening cooperation according to more effective formulas,” the ambassador said.
Haddad added that the violation of regional border security constitutes for Syria one of the most dangerous aspects of the terrorist war imposed on it.
He reiterated his country’s rejection of the attempts by some countries to justify their military intervention without the consent of the Syrian government under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
“It is essential to guarantee respect for the principle of state sovereignty and support national efforts to fight terrorism,” he said.
According to the official, this intervention represents an aggressive act and a violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the principle of state sovereignty and independence, prolongs the war and hampers the government’s efforts in the fight against terrorism.
