“We will investigate the attack that caused the death and injury of civilians passing through Kherson,” the Committee said in the report.
It also pointed out that Ukrainian nationalists were responsible, deliberately attacking the civilians as they headed across the river.
“The attacks were carried out using US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launchers using cluster munitions to cause greater damage,” the preliminary investigation stated.
According to the deputy head of the region, Kirill Stremousov, there were no military personnel there, “the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired a total of 12 projectiles, 11 of which were shot down by air defense systems”.
Russian media reported four people dead and another 13 injured, with children and local journalists among the victims. For her part, the deputy governor of the territory, Yekaterina Gubareva, said that two employees of the Tavria radio and television company based in Kherson were among the deceased.
Authorities of the region said details about the Ukrainian attack will be exposed in the course of the investigation.
