The jury explained that the news agency is leader in news both domestically and in Latin America, and also committed to the truth and Cuba´s vision around the world.
Awarded as part of the 15th Health for All Trade Fair and the 1st International Medical and Wellness Tourism Fair, the prize was given in the media category.
The award, consisting of an original abstract sculpture by the outstanding Cuban artist José Villa Soberón, was granted to Prensa Latina President Luis Enrique González.
The International Health Tourism Award honors the work done by Prensa Latina for decades promoting Cuba´s medicine and biotechnology breakthroughs as well as health services, in addition to the creation, production and development of new drugs and equipment in Cuba.
In fact, one of the news agency´s publications, Avances Médicos de Cuba, supports this work of promoting the update of Cuban medicine, as a substantial basis for health tourism, as well as th newspapers Negocios en Cuba, The Havana Reporter and the magazines Cuba Internacional and Prisma, among others.
In line with these periodical editions, in the 1990s, a tourism newsroom was established to closely follow everything related to tourism industry and, therefore, to the medical specialty.
Prena Latina, founded in 1959, has a website that is currently confirmed by the Alexa ranking as the best-ranked Cuban portal on the Internet.
