In a press conference, the Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games specified that the parade will take place along the avenue, while the opening ceremony will be held at the Place de la Concorde.
According to the executive director for Events and Ceremonies of the event, Thierry Reboul, the Paralympics, scheduled to take place between August 28th and September 8th, have the same revolutionary aspirations as the conventional Olympics, scheduled between July 26th and August 11th.
The games will be inaugurated outside a stadium for the first time in history, and competitors will parade on barges along the Seine on July 26th.
Reboul announced that four stages will be set up on the corners of the Place de la Concorde, where an inauguration will take place in a “completely new” environment.
“The opening ceremony is an important moment for us that should say a lot about the ambition of the Paris 2024 Games in general, and the Paralympic Games in particular,” said Michael Aloisio, Director of the Office of the President of the Organizing Committee, Tony Estanguet.
