In an interview granted to Radio Perfil, the spokeswoman denied statements made by Walter Santiago, a participant in Telefe’s show Gran Hermano, who accused the head of state of bribing him.
“We are facing a serious problem. The idea that we have to destroy others, builds a world in which I would not like to live. We are not going to let this happen,” Cerruti declared.
“We cannot resign give up, because that is how those who want to make others believe that we are corrupt win. We must prevent them from continuing lying, deceiving and campaigning against democracy,” she said.
Cerruti assured that what happened is no small thing and asked that Telefe and Santiago retract.
“The President has no information about that person nor does he remember having met him. As everyone knows, throughout his public career, Fernandez has never been involved in acts of corruption. He makes transparency a central purpose of his administration,” the spokeswoman wrote on Twitter.
“We cannot consider normal the fact that someone expresses themselves lightly to defame and discredit. Being decent and honest is an inalienable value, so we request that they retract and stop this offending attitude,” she added.
