According to the Global Times newspaper, the Sinopec company discovered the deposits in the province of Sichuan and estimates that the daily production may be 258,600 cubic meters.

China – along with Russia and the United States – has the world’s largest deposits of gas and shale oil.

The new reserves will be of great importance for national energy security and economic development, since predictions indicate that by 2035 oil will represent a quarter of the total gas produced globally and China will be among the main suppliers.

However, Chinese experts insist on constant monitoring of the environment and extreme caution during the drilling of deposits due to the impact on vegetation and geological structures, which increases the potential risk of explosions.
